Since 1969, students with disabilities have attended an on-campus summer program at the University of Evansville, which is presented by the Evansville Association for the Blind. This enables the individual to experience firsthand the rigors of college life which includes living in dormitories and completing course work.
Services
The University of Evansville is located on the east side of Evansville, Indiana, which is approximately 300 miles due south of Chicago, Illinois.
The EAB staff is available to give special attention to individual needs. Campus orientation and mobility training are conducted by qualified staff personnel.
Students are encouraged to utilize the University of Evansville's campus services to learn personal interaction skills. Recreation opportunities are also offered to encourage relaxation and social interaction.
A professional counseling staff offers individual and group counseling sessions.

Students participating in the program will begin a discovery process to find the best match between their abilities and career opportunities to enable them to live as independently and productively as possible in the least restrictive environment.
Special instruction is also given to meet the needs of the individual's disabilities that will enable you to utilize special equipment designed for your disability that will enhance your academic and social performance.
Program
This six-week program begins the second Sunday of June and ends on the third Friday of July.
During the first week of the program the student will attend valuable study skill sessions and have an opportunity to become oriented to the college environment.
In the last five weeks of the program the student will attend the college classes selected from options offered by the University of Evansville.

Goals
Participants in the program can receive up to six college credits transferable to the post-secondary institution of their choice. Students will also learn budgeting skills, time management, and daily living skills.

Be registered with a State Vocational Rehabilitation agency and have them request an information packet from EAB |
• |
Be relatively free from emotional problems, be able to handle your personal living needs, and be at least a junior in high school |
• |
Have the sponsoring agency submit the application to EAB by May 15th with copies of required background information. |

Be interviewed by EAB staff to assess your individual needs and determine if the program is appropriate for you. |
