Low Vision

The low vision support group offers a variety of services to those with
visual impairments such as:
- Macular Degeneration
- Diabetic Retinopathy
- Glaucoma
- Retinitis Pigmentosa.
Services offered include functional low vision evaluations to
determine what reading and writing aids are most appropriate to help maintain
independence.
In addition, EAB offers activities including cooking classes,
Clabber, Bingo, Pokeeno, and mall walking.
EAB also sponsors informational speakers and provides information
related to assistive technology.
The Talking Book Machine is one type of assistive technology that
can give print-handicapped individuals the ability to "read"
books and magazines free of charge.
The Radio Reading Service is another program that offers radios
to people in the community so they can listen to the newspapers. The service
is provided by the WNIN FM Public Radio Station and is funded by
donations. The Evansville Courier, as well as the Henderson
and Owensboro newspapers are read every morning from 8:00 a.m.
to 12:00 noon.
EAB also provides members of the support group with a bimonthly
newsletter with a calendar of upcoming activities.
